Our Doctor Team

Dr. Jared Rutman
Dr. Rutman, DVM

Dr. Jared Rutman has always known he would become a veterinarian. From a very young age, he always had a soft spot for animals, especially those who needed a little extra love and rehabilitation. Dr. Rutman received his Bachelor’s in Biology and French Studies from Brigham Young University and then went on to attend Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine for vet school. While he enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Rutman particularly enjoys diagnostic imaging and surgery.

When he is not caring for animals, Dr. Rutman enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and three wonderful children, especially when they are exploring the great outdoors. He also enjoys traveling, discovering new cultures and languages, and landscape photography. At home, Dr. Rutman has two cats, Denver and Calvin.

Dr Craig Hyden
Dr. Hyden, DVM

Dr. Hyden has also performed over 400 CTs and MRIs on dogs and cats. He does this in concert with the Veterinary Specialty Center in Colorado Springs. As a result, he has developed a close association with orthopedic and internal medicine specialists.

Dr. Hyden knew from age five that he wanted to become a veterinarian when he grew up. He enjoys caring for so many cats and dogs and establishing relationships with their owners. Dr. Hyden has interests beyond keeping these animals healthy. He loves spending time with his three children, kitesurfing, playing tennis, shooting, fast cars, and working on several never-ending home remodeling projects.

Sam
Sam, CVT

Sam is an Army OEF/OIF veteran, former IT specialist, and California native. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration/Information Systems in 2014, then decided to pursue her lifelong dream of working with animals. She has been part of the Crossroads team ever since.

A lifelong animal lover, Sam spent her youth caring for neighboring horses and bringing home as many stray dogs and cats as she could. She has a special place in her heart for senior pets and is passionate about educating clients—especially those with diabetic pets, as her late, sweet soul dog Zeus bravely faced the disease.

Sam shares her home with her beloved pets: Alita the Akita, and her three cats—Archer, Ichigo, and Pitou. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three boys, reading, baking, gardening, game nights, puzzling, and watching movies.
